The ESH Multengut construction project in Muri near Bern is in the final phase of modernization and represents an important step forward in concrete repair. Targeted concrete repair work, supplemented by precise milling work, forms the basis for the long-term protection of the structure. Together with the partner company Suicorr, state-of-the-art corrosion protection measures (KKS) are being integrated, which make a decisive contribution to increasing the service life of the structure.
Challenges and innovative solutions
The work included the professional installation of drainage channels, the installation of the KKS system (cathodic corrosion protection) and the installation of a sloping layer to ensure surface drainage. Particular attention was paid to the floor coating with an OS8 system, which is characterized by high mechanical and chemical resistance. This coating has been specially developed for heavily used areas such as parking garages and underground garages and offers long-lasting protection against wear and corrosion. An OS-4 system was applied to the walls, which also helps to protect and preserve the concrete.
The particularly robust and non-slip coating of the ramp, which was applied in a night shift and can be used again the following day, deserves special mention. This meant that customer traffic could be guaranteed without interruption.
Project completion and challenges in ongoing operations
The project was completed in September 2024, one month ahead of the planned completion date. All construction work was carried out while the parking lot remained in operation - proof of the precise planning and flexible implementation of this construction project. The successful completion of this project underlines the progress made in concrete repair and the use of modern corrosion protection technologies to secure and protect the structure in the long term.
